Hello and Welcome! My name is Brooke Baumert. I'm from Edmond Oklahoma. I have my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from The University of Oklahoma. I currently live and teach a second grade class at McKinley Elementary in Norman Oklahoma. I am so excited to work with all of you and each of your students! I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning. I strive to make learning a fun and exciting experience as much as possible. I really believe in a hands on approach to learning because I believe the students will get more out of something if I am able to make it an experience for them. I want to provide your students with a classroom environment where they feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home. I am very passionate about reading and my goal is to make each of your students realize how important and wonderful reading can be! I will try to incorporate literate into the curriculum as much as I can. Because of this, I really encourage you to read with your students at home any chance you get. Reading at home is a great way to get the students excited to read and spend quality time together at the same time. I want the students to set short and long term goals for themselves so they have something to strive for throughout the school year. I think it is important for students to be able to see just what all they can accomplish when they put their minds to something. Even just getting one step further in their quest for knowledge is a huge accomplishment and I want them to learn that as a student in my class! Please feel free to look through the rest if the site to see what is going on in our classroom and what your students are up to!
A little background information about me:
I'm originally from right here in Norman. I moved to Edmond during high school and graduated there. I returned to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am a huge sooner fan and I love to go to football games every chance I get. Some of my hobbies include: reading, cooking, watching movies, traveling, listening to music, and spending time outside. I have a dachshund named Hershey. I am a big animal lover (especially dogs) but giraffes are my favorite animal (you will see a lot in my classroom).
